End user improvements include a streamlined interface, tabbed browsing, printing advances, improved search functionality, instant feeds (RSS), dynamic security protection, and more.

2007 Microsoft Office

System Requirements Overview
We have not set final system requirements or completed performance optimization for the 2007 Microsoft Office system. We highly recommend you evaluate your computer before installing 2007 Microsoft Office System Beta 2 to verify your computer meets or exceeds the minimum system requirements.

When upgrading from Microsoft Office 2003 to the 2007 release you should not need to upgrade your hardware, although you may need to upgrade to a supported operating system. When upgrading from Microsoft Office 2000 or Office XP to the 2007 release you will need to ensure that your hardware and operating system meet the minimum 2007 Microsoft Office system requirements.

Note 2007 Microsoft Office system Beta 2 programs are supported on Windows Vista Beta 2 (when available), and not earlier versions of Windows Vista.
The 2007 Microsoft Office system Beta 2 programs client is a 32-bit application and runs on a Windows 64-bit platform (Windows XP and Windows Server 2003) via WOW64.


2007 Microsoft Office System Programs and Suites
For 2007 Microsoft Office system programs including Access, Excel, Groove, InfoPath, OneNote, Outlook, Outlook with Business Contact Manager, PowerPoint, Project, Publisher, SharePoint Designer, Visio, and Word, you will need:

Hard disk 2 gigabyte (GB) necessary for install; a portion of this disk space will be freed after installation if the original download package is removed from the hard drive
Monitor resolution Minimum 800x600; 1024x768 or higher recommended
Internet connection Broadband connection, 128 kilobits per second (Kbps) or greater, for download and activation of products
Additional components Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 with service packs, Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 or later required for Outlook 2007 users. To install Outlook 2007 with Business Contact Manager, you will need to first install Outlook 2007

Installation Notes for Microsoft Office Groove 2007
  • Installing Office Groove 2007 will upgrade your Groove account.
  • No support exists for downgrading or reverting to a previous version of your Groove account after the upgrade process has started.
  • Each computer will need to be upgraded to Office Groove 2007 to run Groove accounts on multiple computers.

2007 Microsoft Office System Servers
Note Servers require higher system memory and supporting software than are required with programs. Microsoft Office system servers and Windows SharePoint Services Beta 2 will be supported on the June 2006 Community Technology Preview (CTP) build of the upcoming version of Microsoft Windows Server, code-named "Longhorn." Refer to the Microsoft Office Enterprise Project Management (EPM) Solution and Microsoft Office Project Server 2007 Product Guide for details on the system requirements for the EPM Solution which includes Office Project Server 2007, Microsoft Office Project Professional 2007, Microsoft Office Project Web Access, Microsoft Office Project Portfolio Server 2007, and Microsoft Office Project Portfolio Web Access.

Note The following services and applications cannot be installed on the same operating system instance as the Groove Relay: Groove Manager, Groove Data Bridge, IIS (or other Web servers or applications listening on port 80), Active Directory, Office Groove 2007 (or prior versions of Groove), other Microsoft Office servers, and Windows SharePoint Services.

Online backup utilities and services that back up files while they are open for reading or writing in the Groove Relay installation or data directories are not supported.
